General Manager Safety & Hygiene - For Chemical Manufacturing


BE/B.Tec. Chemical Engineering with Diploma in Industrial safety any regional institutes

Responsibilities:


  • Implementing & maintaining necessary documentation and standardization as per Hygiene & Safeety standards of policy & Legal requirements.
  • Daily site visits and Conduct SHE Inspection and propose, facilitate corrective or preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Review Risk Assessment (HIRA), Method statement, and support project team in identifying risk reduction measures.
  • Monitoring & Issue Permit to Work.
  • Site safety supervision; conduct Tool Box Talk meeting to ensure all work to be carried out with full safety only.
  • Inspect Scaffolds, Electrical equipment, Material handling equipment and Machinery.
  • Ensure safe operation of equipment at the site.
  • Preparation of Checklist Items for Internal Audit.
  • Carry out internal health and Safety audits as per ISO 45001:2018 Standard.
  • Carried out Incident investigation to identify corrective and preventive action and made monthly accident statistics data.
  • Prepared and EvaluateSHE performance for contractors at the site.
  • Participating in safety walks along with the client and all other SHE team members.
  • Assisting Chief Safety Manager in Documentation of Minutes of the meeting and preparation of Reports for Safety Committee Meeting.
  • Participating in Preparation of safe Method systems of different work activities at site.
  • Developed Safety training programs and conduct training and awareness programs.
  • Supported System coordinator for ISO related documentation and procedure implementation

  • Training / Motivation to all the levels of employees.
  • Safety induction to new joining employees and contract workers.
  • Preparing documents for drivers' training.
  • Preparing documents like flash MSDS, safety induction module, safety signages, safety posters, drivers training module and visitor training module.
  • Making regular site inspections.
  • Advising Managers, colleagues of safe working practices.
  • Carrying out safety inspections.
  • Carrying out contractor audit.
  • Daily Unsafe Act / Unsafe Condition Observation & Inspection.
  • Upkeep of all types of safety devices used at site.
  • Operation, Testing& Maintenance of Fire& Safety equipment.
  • Spot Survey of work permit & advised special precaution according to work.
  • Making regular site inspections.
  • Advising Managers, colleagues of safe working practices.
  • Carrying out safety inspections.
  • Performing root cause analysis for incident/accident investigations.
  • Ensuring that Fire and Safety equipment is installed correctly and safely.
  • Investigate unsafe acts and conditions and provide solutions to prevent recurrences

Key Areas:

Should Lead the Fire & Safety Operations with a team of 24 members and ensuring

adherence with regulatory & government standards for emergency services such as firefighting & first aid Promoting and raising awareness of the impact of Safety issues at all levels of an organization,

Devising best practices in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility and addressing any issues arising; developing and implementing an Integrated Management System to improve the impact of the organization on the environment

Implementing safety policies and practices, liaising with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies, and competent bodies

Broadcasting HSE policies as per the activities, educating the team for its best implementation and ensuring the availability of HEMP Register

Investigating accidents, near-miss & fire incidents for analyzing root cause, recommending corrective action and extending technical support on HSE issues

Implementing the site HSE, emergency evacuation plans, organizing safety committee meetings, preparing safety meeting topics and conducting monthly fire, first aid and evacuation drill

Participating in environmental education and research, negotiating environmental service agreements and managing associated costs & revenues

Setting organizational sustainability targets and developing plans to meet those targets & oversee their delivery

Auditing, analyzing and reporting safety performance to internal & external clients and regulatory bodies; coordinating in public hearings and consultations on environmental matters

Leading audits, preparing yearly safety budgets and spreading safety awareness through safety meetings, presentations, open forum discussions and safety training

Analyzing available work scope as per original contract and examining the past data for preparation of performance improvement plans & recommendations

Verifying arrangements for emergency situations, educating the team about the same and observing the mock drills

Preventing potential workplace safety hazards through routine inspections and maintaining up-to-date documents of policies, procedures & investigations for accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions.

Formulating general information reports, monitoring hazard conditions and other requirements such as equipment needs, PPEs First Aid Box and so on

Devising, setting up & implementing standard operating procedures & safety procedures for all operations

Creating & sustaining a dynamic environment that fosters development opportunities & motivates high performance amongst team members
